CONTEXT
Ilona Rose House is a 13-storey central London development, including four levels below ground, within the dense and characterful context of Soho. Its programme combines offices, retail and restaurants with specialist media-production uses.
ARCHITECTURAL RESPONSE
The work included translation the concepts for a glazed lightwell and façade panel pattern into contractor information. The lightwell was designed to bring daylight to the basement levels, enabling office use. Its geometry was developed through 3D modelling and technical drawings. Façade studies tested the pattern across the elevations, while a full-scale panel mock-up supported material and lighting tests. The final pattern was then incorporated into the technical drawings.
