Piotr Smiechowicz Architecture is an architecture and strategic design practice working between the UK and Poland. It works with developers, property owners, investors, asset managers, operators and cultural organisations on existing buildings and new development sites, starting at the early stages of investment planning and land purchases.
The practice brings feasibility, development strategy and concept architecture into one connected line of thought. Commercial objectives, planning context, programme, spatial sequence and the character of a place are considered together before a direction becomes difficult or expensive to change.
Architecture remains the foundation. Strategy clarifies what a project needs to achieve. Experience thinking considers how a place should be approached, understood and used. Design gives those decisions spatial form through adaptive reuse, extension, new build or interior intervention, and makes the proposition clear to the people who need to support it.
WORKING MODEL
PSA is founder-led. Piotr remains directly involved in the strategic question, architectural direction and key client conversations. In the early stages, this preserves a continuous line of thought from the first reading of a property to the concept and the way it is communicated.
Each commission is supported by the expertise it requires. Established collaborators can contribute to planning, heritage, technical, cost, operational or visual questions while the central direction remains coherent. The team grows around the project, but senior attention remains constant as the work develops.
RESEARCH THAT STRENGTHENS PRACTICE
PSA is an experience-led practice informed by research into how light, sound, texture, movement and nature influence orientation, attention, atmosphere and use. This work supports practical design decisions and strengthens the connection between architecture, experience and the long-term potential of a place.
PIOTR SMIECHOWICZ
Piotr Smiechowicz is an ARB-registered architect, RIBA Chartered Member, strategic designer and educator. He founded PSA to connect architectural practice with the wider questions that shape a credible direction for a property.
He has more than ten years of professional experience across the UK and Poland, spanning feasibility, planning, concept development and design delivery for residential, commercial, workplace, mixed-use and cultural projects. Much of his London experience was gained through a long-standing collaboration with MATT Architecture, providing architectural design services on complex central London projects across multiple RIBA stages.
An earlier background in television production developed his interest in narrative, audiences and clear communication. He taught at London South Bank University and Ravensbourne University London, where critical review and testing remained central to his work.
His research examines how light, sound, material, movement and nature contribute to the way space is perceived and understood. This informs PSA's architectural thinking without replacing planning, technical or commercial judgement. His work has received international recognition, including a RIBA Silver Medal Commendation for The Moon Catcher project.
