CONTEXT
The project uses the cracks, topography, wind and sound of Malham Cove to locate a group of small pods. Each is conceived as a wind-responsive acoustic object, with the group forming a changing sound field connected to the landscape.
ARCHITECTURAL RESPONSE
Each pod is conceived as a large wind bell, producing a distinct tone intended to resonate differently through the body and contribute to a restorative sense of wellbeing. Together, the pods create a harmonic soundscape, complemented by sound reflected from a large acoustic mirror that changes with the seasons. The experience within each pod is further amplified by smaller individual acoustic mirrors integrated into the structures.
